Hiking in the Haute-Vienne

Mark your route and discover the most beautiful of places!

Hiking in the Haute-Vienne

Starting from one of our holiday cottages, you can hike your way through beautiful nature. There’s forest trails, routes alongside orchards and beautiful streams. Walking alongside a pasture to find a Limousine cow. it is all possible.

You can find beauty in any season in Haute-Vienne, no matter when you’re vacationing.

Hiking in the area of Coussac-Bonneval and Saint Germain les Belles

In the Haute-Vienne (Nouvelle-Aquitaine region) there’s enough trails set out. You can always find strolls through cities or look for the wooden poles with coloring on them.

Walking at an estate or village

The estate of Chauffaille is a beautiful area to hike as its 200 acres to explore. You can also take your dog there!

In Coussac-Bonneval and Saint Germain les Belles, the locations of our LOTT holiday homes in Haute-Vienne, there are several mapped routes ranging from 2 to 12 km. These all begin in or near the village of your cottage. Another great route is in Segur-le-Chateau, a Les Plus Beaux Village certified village with a nice hike through its historical sights. You could always visit the city of Limoges or Brive to walk through.

All these cities are only an hour away of the LOTT holiday homes.

Gargan mountain

A hike through or to the park of Millevaches you can find the mountain of Garage (peak at 731m). This is a beautiful walk.

Lake Vassiviere

The lake of Vassiviere (37km from Saint Germain les Belles) is one of the biggest manmade lakes of France. You can combine your hike alongside its banks with a ride on a taxi boat to the island of Vassiviere.

Additionally, there’s beaches, swimming opportunity, SUPPing, canoeing and pedal boating (and enjoying a drink at the restaurant!) all available at this lake.

Regional natural park Perigord-Limousin

This natural park at the edge of the Haute-Vienne (near the Dordogne) has beautiful hiking trails. Its landscapes vary from causses, rivers, cliffs, forests, moors and lakes. Any sight is worth seeing.

You can also go bird watching here; hoopoes, blue harriers, and peregrines can be seen.

There’s over 2000km of hiking trails available in this park. Maybe pick the 13km green path of Hauts de Tardoire, or walk alongside the train tracks of Bussiere-Galant (you can take the specially made bicycle for train tracks, velo-rail, if you want to cycle alongside this track!)
